  3. I have been searching for hours and hours :( I was hoping maybe someone visiting this site has the patches lying around in a folder somewhere. Maybe lockonfiles should be hosting the patches and tweaks to make these old flightsims work?
  4. Yeah they did go dead! We need his files to save these games.
  5. Hi! I recently got an urge to experience some old flightsims I grew up with. USNF, Janes IAF and USAF. Problem is that USAF and IAF wont work properly on Win7 because of.. well.. programming stuff However there is a guy on a forum called Gulfs Knights Air Base called Tackleberry. This guy has made patches for games to make them work again. Only problem is that the download links he has provided are dead, and that forum isnt exactly buzzing with life at the moment. I was therefore hoping that maybe someone here had the patches or had any info about tackleberry Cheers!
  6. Was the MiG-21 Module supposed to be released today? I can't find any info on what has happened to it
  7. Nice video, but still its not what Im talking about. The problem is that you KNOW that there are f-14s ahead of you. You KNOW they have Aim 54 with them. You start maneuvering around before you get a launch warning. In BVR combat the russian airplanes usually have an edge. So unless you KNOW there are Aim 54s ahead, you would never start maneuvering, thats giving away your edge. I just had 3v3 against F-14s in a mission. For whatever reason the AI waited until I got much closer before he fired. I get a quick lock warning and then the launch warning starts. I pitch the airplane 90 degrees down immediately and start pulling Gs releasing chaff. Using Tacview I see that less than 3 seconds after I get the launch warning I get hit. The missile is going 5000 kmh when it hits me. It is IMPOSSIBLE to dodge this missile if you are close enough to it at higher altitudes. Not that it proves much, but all my wingmen got killed aswell. I dont know if this is realistic or not, but its very frustrating
  8. I guess I will read up on the editor and make missions myself Its a shame because missions (at least to me) gives the game purpose. The editor in DCS is not too hard to understand, I would say about the same as ARMA 3, and there are just tons of missions for that. I hope this game gets a steam workshop. That would really help I think.
  9. Very quick question to veterans on this forum. I have been trying to find good campaigns/mission packs to FC3 online. So far i know of this place, and the DCS home page under user files. Any other websites, or forums I should go to, to find campaigns and missions? Thanks
  10. What indicated airspeed do you have when you first hear the launch warning? If I know Im meeting an f-14, sure I can stay away from it and assume that he has fired a missile. But I dont understand how I am supposed to know its an f-14 coming towards me. I didnt make the mission, I just hear a launch warning. At 10000 feet this missile is very easy to dodge. I can do it all day long. But at high altitude where the air is very thin, you are very close to the stall and its difficult to do the hard G maneuvers you do at low altitude without starting to stall. At that point you are a sitting duck
  11. If you are flying a mission you haven't created yourself, there is no way of knowing you are up against an F-14 if you are in a russian airplane. You only know there is an airborne radar ahead of you, could be anything. Now remember that you are meeting this airplane at 20000 feet or more, head on. You don't know its an Aim 54 until you hear the launch warning, and you see that its even before you can fire the r-27. Now you have a few seconds to maneuver, because the Aim 54 is stupid fast. I think I have tried everything to get a way from it, but 9 out of 10 times i get killed. Hitman: Please provide me with several tracks where you beat the missile under these conditions, head on, at least 20000 feet.
  12. Have you tried making this mission in the editor? I cant even get to firing range before I hear the launch warning. Then I have about 7-15 seconds before my plane is in pieces
  13. I have tried all day to evade this missile with no luck at all Try making this mission yourself. You start at 20000ft at good BVR distance against an f-14 with AIM 54 also at 20000ft head to head. It is impossible to evade that missile. I got shot down 9 out of 10 times. Any suggestions? I have tried to start in a Su-33 with and without ECM, seems to make no difference at all
  14. I'm not going to go into much detail about the Beta, but it's already a pretty good "game". Some bugs are there, but the game is functional enough that I'm very impressed with the depth. Thats the best description of this game, its very deep. So in my opinion it's worth every penny. If you haven't played it yet I dont see how your opinion matters on how the game is, because in reality you are pretty much clueless. When it comes to "whats the next project" of DCS: They make simulators for the military, if the client is ok with it, they can make an entertainment version of the same game, and sell it to us. So if you do a little research you can find out what contracts they are working on now besides the A-10.
