  5. TFDi Design 717 Released

    By Tom_Weiss, 12/23/2016

It is with great excitement, pride, and some nerves, that we announce the release of the TFDi Design 717. It is now available for purchase here.
    https://tfdidesign.com/717.php
We started this journey four years ago. Throughout those years, we’ve made many friends, worked with developers, pilots, testers, dedicated simmers, and combinations of all four. We’ve learned more than we had ever anticipated and it has been an incredible journey. As I hinted at yesterday, we are now beginning a new journey with our customers and supporters. We have taken great pride in giving the community that supports and purchases our products a voice. We’ve taken pride in, despite the circumstances, staying humble and part of the community.
On that note, we want to take the opportunity to work with you on the 717 from here forward. There are plenty of areas we’d like to improve and features left to add, and there are things we can’t do alone. We want to hear your thoughts and feelings on the product – new features, fixes, and more are possible quickly and easily and we have every intention of delivering them. We want to make the 717 a product like no other, beyond simply correctly modeling the aircraft.
We look forward to hearing from you and continuing to expand and improve the product you’ve waited so long for. On behalf of myself, Brandon Filer, Joshua Mendoza, Martyn Becker, and Brandon Olivo to the developers, testers, pilots, and enthusiasts that have helped us along the way, thank you.
    See you in the skies

  6. IL-2 Sturmovik news

    By Tom_Weiss, 12/22/2016

A Ton of Good News for IL-2 Sturmovik Pilots
    Dear Pilots,
we have a ton of good news for you this time!
First of all, this week saw our Sturmovik engine received a humongous update bringing it to version 2.006. The full list of changes and additions is available here. This is the biggest and most important update to the sim so far!
Our new DirectX 11 renderer and other performance optimizations improved performance to such an extent you may see a two or three-fold increase in framerate during complex scenes!
Early Access for Battle of Kuban just started with the Bf-109 G-4 being made available to those who Pre-Ordered Battle of Kuban. From now on, Battle of Kuban owners will receive regular updates that will gradually add more BOK content as it gets ready.

The long awaited flyable Ju-52/3m g4e has been released as well. This aircraft brings many new gameplay features and three new mission types to the current campaign – paratrooper drop, cargo parachute drop and cargo delivery. They can be used in complex multiplayer missions as well.

The first official scripted campaign made by Alexander -BlackSix- Timoshokov, "Ten Days of Autumn", is now available. This historical campaign recreates the events of one German squadron during the Battle of Moscow. Our new Scripted Campaign mode will allow everyone who has the talent to create and distribute free or paid (copy protected) campaigns. We'll tell you about how it's done in coming Developer Diaries.

In other news, IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover players will be delighted to learn 1C Game Studios has reached an agreement in principle to cooperate with Team Fusion on future commercial development of IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. This includes giving Team Fusion access to the Cliffs of Dover source code so they may continue their work to fix and improve Cliffs of Dover and build commercial add-ons for the base title. Such cooperation was made possible only recently as full ownership rights to Cliffs of Dover was returned to 1C Company after many years. We can now allow Team Fusion to continue their work more comfortably and help turn Cliffs of Dover into the product is was intended to be. 1C Game Studios recognizes the hard work and passion that Team Fusion has exhibited in improving Cliffs of Dover and we welcome their continued dedication to the product. You can read the official announcement here.

Finally, the Winter Sale just started on our website and on Steam. Battle of Stalingrad, La-5 and Fw-190 Collector Planes are 50% Off, Battle of Moscow is on sale at 33% Off and the P-40 and Mc.202 are also on sale with 15% off.

  15. JustFlight Hunter F.6 / FGA.9 in development

    By Tom_Weiss, 11/08/2016

    http://justflight.com/product/hunter-f6-fga9
The saying of "If it looks right, it’ll fly right” certainly applies to the Hunter, with its graceful flowing lines and curves. Entering RAF service as an interceptor, it was the first jet-engined aircraft designed by Hawker. The Hunter was sold to air forces around the world, all of which were suitably impressed by its outstanding performance and manoeuvrability. First flown in 1951, the last aircraft in military service only retired in 2014!

The Just Flight Hunter features the F.6 and the definitive machine, the FGA.9, modelled in great detail with multiple animations including the correct landing gear sequence, flap actions, airbrake, canopy and a realistic animated pilot figure. The detailed engine fan is visible through the intake mouths and the models include other highly detailed areas such as flap recesses and gear wells. Details such as boarding steps, wheel chocks, pre-flight flags, and Ground Power Unit (GPU) are included.
There are two highly detailed virtual cockpits, one for the F.6 and the other the FGA.9
12 liveries will be included, covering both British and overseas air forces.

  19. JustFlight Meteor F.8/FR.9 released

    By Tom_Weiss, 10/07/2016

Although the Gloster Meteor is regarded as typical of Britain’s Jet Age supremacy, its development actually began in the dark days of 1940 and the design, although quite primitive, turned out to be a successful fighter and evolved quickly through the 1940s and 1950s. Although the aircraft saw only limited combat in WWII, nearly 4,000 airframes were built in a variety of specifications, including ground attack and photo-reconnaissance, and served with many countries. Meteors flew as night-fighters, trainers and ejection-seat test-beds. An F.3 set the world’s first official air speed record for a jet aircraft on 7th November 1945 at 606 miles per hour. The following year an F.4 extended this record  to 616 miles per hour. One Meteor, fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent turbines driving propellers, even became the world’s first turboprop aircraft to take to the air.

Although quickly eclipsed by the stars of the late 50s and 60s, the Gloster Meteor will always hold its position in the history of aviation as the UK’s first operational jet fighter.

This FSX/P3D collection includes models of the F.8 fighter and the FR.9 fighter-reconnaissance variants, in a total of 12 liveries. The detailed virtual cockpit features simple autopilot functionality, simulated UV cockpit lighting and a retractable reticle gunsight. Other features include selectable wing fuel tanks or wing-mounted (non-operational) rockets (rockets non-operational), an authentic sound set and selectable identification light colours.

  20. VRS F/A-18E & TacPack for P3D v3.4 released

    By Tom_Weiss, 10/05/2016

    TacPack and Superbug Version 1.4.3.1

    MICROSOFT FSX SUPPORT

This version supports FSX:SP2 and FSX:Accleration. (This includes FSX:Gold Edition)
    STEAM EDITION SUPPORT

This version supports FSX:SE and FSX:A side-by-side installations. (Co-Existence mode) This version supports FSX Steam Edition (FSX:SE) 10.0.62615.0 or earlier. 1.4.3.1 will not work on newer updates pushed out by Dovetail. VRS will work to quickly release updated installers when new versions of FSX:SE are pushed out, but it may take a few days after any new FSX update before we have time to respond with a new version.
    PREPAR3D SUPPORT

VRS products for Prepar3D currently work on P3D Academic v1.4 through 3.4 [NOTE: P3D 3.0-3.1 are NOT supported. For use on P3D v3 you must be running P3D 3.2 or higher] They do NOT work on P3D Professional or P3D Professional Plus Prepar3D v3.4 support is added in this version. Please report any issues encountered in the support forums.
    PREFERENCES MAY BE RESET!:
Some (not all) preferences may be retained, depending on your existing version of the Superbug/TacPack. However you should assume they WILL be reset. Please check both the ACM and TPM in order to confirm your current settings before installation. Note anything important that you may wish to restore after installation. Check to make sure the multi-axis throttle setting in the ACM is appropriate for your throttle type. Check to make sure your trigger/pickle are properly remapped in the TacPack Manager. If you are using joystick buttons as triggers, then enable button triggers, place the cursor in the trigger and pickle boxes and press the respective buttons on your joystick to remap them. This version of the Superbug installer will NOT delete existing livery folders from the VRS_FA-18E directory, however it may replace the aircraft.cfg. Upon installation, if you do not see your liveries as options in the simulation's select-aircraft screen, then you will need to re-import any custom liveries via the ACM. The liveries will still be present in the VRS_FA-18E folder (texture.blah), but may still need to be imported into the aircraft.cfg via the ACM Livery tab before they are usable. All aircraft switch positions WILL be reset to their default locations. The executable names for the ACM and TPM have changed over the 1.4.1.x releases and earlier. This means that if you've manually created shortcuts for them (perhaps by pinning them to your taskbar or start menu) the old shortcuts will no longer work. You'll need to remove the old shortcuts, then re-pin the new shortcuts.
    PREREQUISITES
.NET: The Aircraft Manager (ACM) requires Microsoft's .NET 3.5 framework. .NET is pre-installed on Vista and Windows 7, but if you run Windows XP, you may need to install it manually. You may download it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/net/. Note that even though you may have a later version of .NET installed (e.g. 4.5), the 3.5 components must ALSO be installed since .NET 4+ is not fully compatible with .NET 3.5. FSX: Make sure you are running FSX with a minimum of FSX with Service Pack 2 (SP2). We recommend Acceleration, (a.k.a X-pack), Gold Edition, or FSX Steam Edition. Note that VRS does NOT support a concurrent boxed FSX/Steam Edition installation. You should have ONE or the other installed, NOT both. If you are running FSX RTM or SP1, SP2 can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 41a3e27ff0. Do not install SP2 over a higher version such as Acceleration or Gold Edition. P3D: As of v1.4.3.1, The TacPack and Superbug support Prepar3D Academic Edition v1.4 through v3.4. (3.4.9.18400) Please note that upgrading P3D beyond that range (if available) will BREAK the Superbug and TacPack until we release a new version built that supports it.

  24. MegaScenery Alabama v3 released

    By Tom_Weiss, 08/15/2016

The New MegaSceneryEarth Alabama 3 featuring unsurpassed image sharpness, scenery color and clarity, improved scenery features with accurate additional water bodies and topographical data and the latest aerial imagery available taken in 2015.

    http://www.megasceneryearth.com/store/cart.php?target=product&product_id=1002

Welcome to the Heart of Dixie, the southeastern state of Alabama. Bordered by 4 states (GA, FL, MS, TN) and a small section of the Gulf of Mexico, Alabama is the thirtieth largest state and gives you 52,419 square miles of Alabamian terrain to explore as you soar the flight simulator skies in and out of 203 airports.
Alabama has an average elevation of just 500 feet, with the highest peak Cheaha Mountain it 2,382 feet, so you could consider it as being relatively flat but it's not without interesting features and well known population centers such as Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, and Mobile and its bay in the Gulf of Mexico.
6 major interstate highways feed into Birmingham (it's fun following them visually). There's a good number of forests, large lakes, one of the largest waterways and there's Alabama's greatest natural disaster, the Wetumpka crater.
Remember, you'll see everything that you see in Alabama in real life in the scenery. The clarity of the imagery is stunning.
As an added bonus, we now provide all the VFR and IFR charts in digital PDF format to enable you to get the most out of your scenery. This includes Sectionals, IFR enroute charts and 312 page book of Instrument Approach plates, Airport Diagrams, SIDs and STARs, and an Airport Facility Directory. The charts are downloadable along with your scenery files.

Some of the cities and landmarks you'll get to enjoy as you explore Alabama include:
Cities: Birmingham (Largest), Montgomery, Mobile, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, Hoover
Lakes & Water Bodies: Wheeler Lake, Wilson Lake, Guntersville Lake, Lake Martin, Lay Lake, Mitchell Lake, Gulf of Mexico Shoreline

    • DCS World 2.0 released
      By: Scotsman · 08/28/2016
We've waited 10 odd years for this, IMHO it was good money well spent, we will get updates, we can make our own scenarios. and the cost of getting to Las Vegas, is a bit steeper, need to take a reality pill. The aircraft are far superior in general to the generic FSX, and I for one will be putting my money with this lot...and I'm  Scotsman.. lol
    • DCS World 2.0 released
      By: Marky78 · 08/15/2016
Shame it costs about £40/$50 for a training area map terrain just to try this out. Pretty steep if you ask me considering you also pay for aircraft as well and they aren't cheap either.
    • P3D EF2000 preview
      By: Tom_Weiss · 03/10/2016
It would be great if he did it - he just started making payware add ons, so I guess it will be a long while before he seriously considers doing anything else than FSX-P3D, and that market is much bigger than DCS and he can continue to be independent if he stays in it.
    • P3D EF2000 preview
      By: carss · 03/09/2016
It's great but I don't think it'll even be needed to make this DCS compatible since I believe there already is a Eurofighter Typhoon under development. I wonder when that will be out though :/
    • Falcon 4 released on STEAM
      By: Tom_Weiss · 02/11/2016
no - the original one BMS seems to be in contact with the new owner, maybe ... who know, we might see something unexpected taking place, BMS as an official Falcon 4 mod ?
