a trip to Warnervale

Warnervale is that kind of place you would like to spend in a Sunday afternoon with your friends, having a nice cold drink and watching the airplanes take off and land.

I flew there just after my PC died on me, to test my new rig . To read about it click on the image above or click the Read More link.

For this trip I flew the Grumman G-21A_HP Goose, lovingly rendered by OZX , in the livery of the Australian Air Tours, yes, the same guys that made the F-14D Tomcat one day struggled in making the Goose fly ...

the trip from YPEC Aeropelican to YWVA Warnervale is a short one - the whole region is very interesting, and ORBX spent quite some time on the Airports in that area

the OZX Goose cockpit is like the model and liveries - top of the line, worth every cent you spent on it ... you can download it here, as it is freeware.

Aeropelican, which we reviewed a short while ago, is small regional Airport, and it poses no challenge for the Goose to take off from.

ORBX takes special care of the surroundings of its Airport add ons, that makes it even more worthwhile to buy them, you have so much more to explore.

It took me about fifteen minutes flying to reach Warnervale, yes ... that is Warnervale ... Airport.

here is where you realize that you arrived in another of those FSX places that has that feel of being real.

yes, a DC-3 , unfortunately someone put a lot of graffiti on it, vandals...

Warnervale Air Terminal - if I thought Aeropelican was a 'small' Airport, Warnervale gave meaning to the word 'airstrip' ...

ORBX obviously uses Google as a template for creating their add ons, it is not a question of 'it looks as good as in Google Maps', the fact is, ORBX managed to make it as close as possible to the real thing.

I made the return trip to Aeropelican at dusk - to see how the light effects look.

Maneuvering in such a tight space in a Grumman Gooose is very easy - I would not try to do the same in a C-130E Hercules on the same spot.

the Goose cockpit is very well illuminated and visibility is outstanding.

As you can see, the surroundings of Warnervale look almost real.

Back to Aeropelican - after Warnervale, that runway looks so big !!!

REX, FEX, ASA, ORBX AU BLUE REGION, ENB Mod and OZX Goose for FSX were used in this article.

Install was very easy - using an EXE, ENB Mod used @ 1600x1200, AA x8Q, AF x4 - FSX-A set at high settings, set up according to the .PDF that comes with this add on.

FPS were in an acceptable range : 15-24 -this much eye candy that was added does not go well with aircraft that have complex avionics.

The OZX Goose is freeware and is CPU friendly - even though it uses very high res skins.

Screenshots were taken by ThomasDWeiss on an Intel DX58SO, Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core 2.66GHz, 4 GB 1333 RAM (CORSAIR XMS3 2x2GB PC3-10600 1333MHz), 2x500GB RAID 0, WinXP Pro, Nvidia GeForce GTX285 1 GB - and were not edited in any way other than resizing.

as always, we do not profit from any sales of anything we review.
