Orbx releasing Side-By-Side Licenses for using FTX with Prepar3D

Orbx will very soon be offering a Side-By-Side License (SBSL) which will legally authorise you to use your currently installed FTX addons from within P3D.

These SBSLs will cost a flat rate of AU$8.95 for every Orbx FTX product licensed this way.

Here are the important details about SBSLs:

a. You must have Microsoft Flight Simulator X installed side-by-side with Prepar3D on the same PC

b. They can reside anywhere on the same PC, but must have valid Windows Registry keys pointing to their install paths for the SBSL to operate

c. You must have a legitimately licensed Orbx FTX product installed before you purchase the special SBSL installer. You will not get support for the SBSL unless you have an SBSL order number

d. The SBSL installer does NOT copy the Orbx files across from FSX to P3D, but links to them from within P3D, and only installs a small number of required local files. The key benefit of this is that an Orbx FTX SBSL product virtually does not require any additional hard disk space to be used with P3D

e. All patches and updates must be applied to the FSX installation only, and they will automatically be seen in P3D

f. The SBSL does NOT give you a commercial license for Orbx products. It is simply a way to legitimize your use of Orbx products for the P3D platform. Commercial customers are not permitted to use SBSLs for deployment of Orbx products for any commercial or training purpose whatsoever.

g. SBSLs will exclusively be available from the Flightsimstore.com (FSS) and will generally be between 3MB - 20MB in size.

The first SBSL will be for FTX PNW, expected within a week, followed by FTX Australia. This is an FYI topic only.
