FSX Screenshots

I am slowly--well not so slowly--accumulating screenshots. Being an inveterate photographer, it seems I can't be in the air 2 minutes before I start snapping. So I figured: What the hell. I'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours. :) And what's flight without beautiful skies. Anytime I'm in the air in RL, my eyes are always on the sky:

Leaving Sochi late in the afternoon (weather courtesy of ASA--Active Sky Advanced):

I'll add more as time allows. Part of FSX's allure is the ability to sample various parts of the world and its weather virtually. Well... I've shown you some of mine, so let's see some of yours. :)

It's the third one down the list.

Wow! Those are amazing shots. Be nice if one day DCS could look like that.

Maybe one day but...

Keep in mind that most of my computing power is invested in the graphics. Adding an actual simulation along the lines of FC to the mix would bring my computer to its knees. Interestingly enough, FSX isn't about simulation--or rather, it just scrapes the surface of the simulation of flight. It is, at it's core, fairly simplistic.

SKYWARD,

Nice screens. :) Flew through there (virtually) a few days ago.

A few more:

Flying over Utah, USA. North of the Canyonlands Area. (Photorealistic Scenery from MegasceneryEarth. Clouds courtesy of FEX and weather by ASA)

I definitely prefer FEX's sky to REX. REX is good but FEX is better. My opinion, of course.

In these Utah pics, as noted above, I'm using Megascenery's MegasceneryEarth product. I have several sections of that area and it's a joy to fly in. In the sequence of shots that started this thread, the Mount Rainier area images also show MegasceneryEarth's ground through the clouds--which I like less. Otherwise, images from areas in the USA use replacement textures provided by UTX and GEX. The rest of the world reflects default FSX textures.

Cool. Thanks for the pic. :) That is one slick aircraft. Not sure about the paint job but the lines are great.

I don't have any of the addon weather packs but looking at the clouds I might just try one. Although I don't "fly" FS X often enough...

No idea where but found this in the screenshots folder of FSX

The only thing stopping the first one from being great is the lack of clouds in the sky... But hey mistakes happen :)

Hey Rich, do you have any terrain mods for Sochi, or anywhere in the black sea? It looks like you have decent terrain textures that arent stock MS paint-style...

No. Nothing special for Sochi but I do have GEX installed. Perhaps that's the difference.

Actually, I think clouds would detract by making the photo too "busy". :)

Sorry. I've been out of town with only an occasional landline net connection (at 26.4Kbps). This thread was impossible to view in anything resembling a timely manner. If you still need a GEX purchase link: Flight1: GEX. You purchase it through Flight1 Software. Here's the GEX website with purchase link itself: Ground Environment X. But I think the GEX textures are only for the US and Canada. If so, that would make the textures in the Sochi screens the "default".

Some of my personal best alt records.

Cool. I haven't tried any of that sort of thing yet.

Thomas lives in a very populated part of the world. It was raining outside his window, when I flew this. In fact, it seems to be raining there a lot lately. Today I chose to fly without the rain:

In the urban landscape, there is some occasional green--the Tiete Ecological Park:

The International Airport in the background:

You do eventually get to the outskirts of the megalopolis:

And even see the occasional hawk sharing your sky:
