Basic Arma 2 Custom Weapon Loadouts

I've been playing Armed Assault 2 since day 1 - and I've bought every expansion pack they have released since .

After a while I've stared to make some missions to play, but as much as I wanted to I never quite managed to find exactly the information I needed without going thru dozens of different links and usually I gave up.

Arma2 is (to me) the best FPS there is - and it gets better with each new release ...but how on Earth can one do some basic changes - like custom weapon loadouts ? To spare you the joy of googling for this info - here it is :


1)
You need this:

ARMA 2: CO (how to combine ARMA 2 into ARMA 2:OA and use together)

get the file _runA2CO.cmd


this simple file will make all weapons available in the many Arma2 titles available to you regardless of which Arma2 version you are running - so long as you have the other titles installed ... for example, you can't have an M-16A4 in Arma2 OA without that script or have a SCAR in Arma2.

this is important - because you will need them to edit the default loadout

and how can you edit it ?

the basic script I use is this one : it adds an M-4 Carabine, Glock pistol, Anti Tank M136 plus ammunition :

it looks complicated - but it isn't :

this removes all weapons that would normally come with that unit

these are the new weapons I am adding : M4 with grenade launcher, glock17 sidearm, M-136 AT launcher, I'll add first the magazines , this way all weapons are loaded and ready to fire when I start a mission

this piece of code is important:







this addWeapon "M4A3_RCO_GL_EP1";

because you can replace it with any any rifle that uses 30Rnd_556x45_Stanag , like the M16A4_ACG_GL , so it would be this code that you would use instead :

this addWeapon "M16A4_ACG_GL";


IMPORTANT:

- you can only add 1 model of each class : 1 AT weapon, 1 Rifle, 1 pistol , can't have 2 different types of Rifles at the same time ...


- each weapon has to have the correct ammunition type loaded or you won't fire anything


- you need to have the titles (like Arma2OA or Arma2 BAF etc. ) installed in order to be able to use the scripts that will enable you to use the weapons from those titles


- in order for the scripts to work, you MUST only use _runA2CO.cmd to run Arma2 , it is a batch file that will execute the needed commands.

You can add Russian, German, British and Czech weapons as well. You just have to be careful with adding ; after each entry, that is it.






Really think Arma2 is great - have all the expansions too

The best time I've had is doing the SimHQ Military Mondays
Good missions and good company

LIke the Mountain Warfare and Domination Mods as well - Domination is the best
going to give the SimHQ Military Mondays a try :)
